VineCircle Privacy Policy

Overview

VineCircle (“we,” “us”) is a mobile app that helps you save wines you like, get food pairing ideas, and share favorites with friends. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Your wine collection is for you. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your wines with other users or third-party apps as a social product feature.

Information we collect

• Guest identifier. When you continue as a guest, the app creates an anonymous ID on your device and may send it with requests to our backend so we can operate features (for example guest activity and unlock milestones).
• Wine photos. If you choose to add a wine by camera or photo library, we process that image to help auto-fill label details (such as producer, variety, region, vintage, and price when available).
• Wine collection details. Information you save about wines—such as store, tasting notes, comments, and optional location or address text you enter or attach.
• Device and technical data. Basic operational data needed to run our service (for example request logs from our hosting provider).

How we use information

• To provide the VineCircle app: save your collection, extract label details from photos you submit, show food pairings, and related features.
• To improve reliability and fix issues (for example understanding failed requests).
• To respond if you contact us for support.

Where data is stored

• On your device. Your collection and guest ID are stored locally on your iPhone so you can browse wines offline as the product allows.
• Our servers and processors. When you use cloud features (such as label photo extraction), data is sent to services that help us run VineCircle, including:
  • Hosting / API: Netlify
  • Database / backend storage we use for shared region data, pairings, and guest-related records: Supabase
  • Image understanding for label extraction: Anthropic (Claude API)

These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the service. They are not intended recipients of your data for their own marketing.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:

• With service providers that process data to run VineCircle (as listed above).
• When you choose to share (for example using the system share sheet with friends or opening a link to shop online).
• If required by law or to protect rights and safety.

Your choices

• You can decline photo or camera access; some features may not work without them.
• You can edit or delete wines and notes in the app when those controls are available.
• You can delete the app, which removes locally stored data on that device.
• To request help with deletion of server-side guest records associated with your use of the service, email us (include enough detail for us to locate the request; we may not always be able to link activity if no account exists).

Children

VineCircle is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
